NOTICE TO THE BAR-
AMENDMENT OF LOCAL RULES
The Lawyer's Advisory Committee (LAC) for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey is soliciting comments and suggestions from the bar for the amendment of local rules. To ensure that any submissions received will be fully considered by the Court and the LAC Local Rules Subcommittee, they must be received by September 1, 2002. Submissions received after that date may be considered for the current annual cycle of rule making if possible, but, if not, they will be included in the next annual cycle. The annual cycle for local rules amendment is as follows:
January 1 and July 1- Notice goes out to the bar via legal newspapers and court web page (www.njb.uscourts.gov) that the LAC is seeking suggestions for amendments to the Court's local rules. The notice will detail the 12 month schedule for rule amendment.
September 1 - Deadline for submission. The submissions received, as well as any court initiated amendments, will be delivered to the LAC Local Rules Subcommittee. All submissions will be posted on the new LAC section of the court's web site.
March 1 - Local Rules Subcommittee has 6 previous months to schedule various meetings to consider and draft final suggested amendments. The subcommittee transmits amendments to the full LAC for adoption on this date. The full LAC schedules meeting in first week of March for review and recommendation for final transmission to the Bankruptcy Court Board of Judges.
March - Meeting of the Bankruptcy Court Board of Judges to discuss and approve/disapprove proposed amendments.
May 1 - Approved Rules are published for 30 day comment period.
June 1 - Rule amendments are submitted to District Court with any comments for consideration in time for their June meeting. Approved Rules become effective August 1.
